Curriculum

The degree is a standalone program in the Katz College of Science and Health, separate from the college’s MS in Computer Science and MS in Data Analytics and Visualization. It has no tracks or concentrations.

Students complete 36 graduate credits, or 12 courses, consisting of:

  • 24 credits of core courses, including a 3-credit capstone
  • 12 credits of electives

Core Courses

  • AIM 5000 – Artificial Intelligence
  • AIM 5001 – Data Acquisition and Management
  • AIM 5002 – Computational Statistics and Probability
  • AIM 5003 – Numerical Methods
  • AIM 5004 – Predictive Models
  • AIM 5005 – Machine Learning
  • AIM 5007 – Neural Networks and Deep Learning
  • AIM 5008 – Capstone for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

The core is sequenced. Data Acquisition and Management and Computational Statistics and Probability are prerequisites for Artificial Intelligence, Predictive Models, and Machine Learning, and Machine Learning is a prerequisite for Neural Networks and Deep Learning.

In the school’s sample full-time plan, the first semester is data management, statistics, and numerical methods. Machine Learning comes in the second semester and deep learning in the third.

Electives

Students choose four electives. The program’s course descriptions, updated in July 2026, list:

  • AIM 5011 – Natural Language Processing
  • AIM 5012 – Data Visualization
  • AIM 5014 – Special Topics
  • AIM 5015 – Deep Reinforcement Learning
  • AIM 5016 – Computer Vision
  • AIM 5017 – Neural Computation
  • AIM 5999 – Independent Study in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, and Deep Reinforcement Learning are electives rather than core courses. Natural Language Processing requires both Machine Learning and Neural Networks and Deep Learning first. The sample plan also shows an internship as an elective option.

Elective offerings vary by semester. The university catalog also lists AIM 5009 – Bayesian Methods and AIM 5010 – Product Studio, which do not appear in the July 2026 course descriptions.

Special Topics

AIM 5014 is offered for 1 to 3 credits. Current special topics include:

  • AI and the Future of Work and Collaboration
  • AI for Extended Reality: Digital Twins and Spatial Intelligence
  • AI for Safety and Security
  • Artificial General Intelligence
  • Foundations and Practice of Effective Coding with AI
  • Model Context Protocol for AI Agents
  • Modern Intelligent Database Systems

Capstone

In AIM 5008, students complete an applied project, thesis, approved internship, or equivalent activity. The work includes a proposal and project schedule, a main deliverable such as a thesis, conference paper, or working system, and a final presentation to students and faculty. There is no separate thesis track.

Cost and Tuition

Yeshiva is a private university and charges graduate tuition by the credit, with the same published rate for New York residents and nonresidents.

For the 2026–27 academic year, the Office of Student Finance lists these charges for the MS in Artificial Intelligence:

ChargeAmount
Tuition per credit$1,445
Graduate student and technology fee, per semester$350
Registration fee, per semester$65
Health insurance, per semester$3,327

At 36 credits, tuition comes to about $52,020 at the published rate, before fees and scholarships.

The college also advertises a much lower price through its STEM Fellows scholarship. It states total tuition of $19,000 for U.S. students and $35,000 for international students after the scholarship, whether the degree takes one year or two. All applicants are considered automatically, with no separate application.

The STEM Fellows scholarship cannot be combined with other Yeshiva University or Katz scholarships, and fellows complete a multi-semester project. The university does not publish selection criteria, and it does not say whether fees are included in those totals. Students should confirm their own price in writing before enrolling. Rates can change each year.

Admission Requirements

Applicants need a bachelor’s degree, typically in computer science, data science, engineering, physics, mathematics, statistics, or another quantitative science. Economics, finance, and psychology majors with a strong quantitative background are also eligible.

The program lists these prerequisite courses:

  • two university courses in high-level programming
  • mathematical probability and statistics
  • multivariable calculus
  • linear algebra

Professional experience may be considered in place of prerequisites. The college does not publish a minimum GPA for this program.

Application Materials

Applicants submit:

  • online graduate application and $50 application fee
  • transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • a written statement of goals
  • current resume or CV
  • proof of English proficiency, for international students

The GRE is optional. Recommendation letters are required only for the college’s mathematics and physics programs, so they are not part of this application. The college accepts TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, and PTE scores for English proficiency.

Admission is rolling, and applications stay open while seats are available. Fall classes start in late August and spring classes in mid-January.

Program Format

The MS in Artificial Intelligence is taught in person in Midtown Manhattan, at 205 Lexington Avenue. Yeshiva does not list an online option for this degree.

Classes are offered in the daytime or evening, and students can enroll full time or part time. The sample full-time plan is three courses a semester for four semesters, and the college gives an average completion time of 1.5 to 2 years.

The college lists the degree as STEM-OPT eligible, so international students may qualify for up to three years of Optional Practical Training.

The program also offers optional preparation for machine learning certifications from AWS, Google, and Microsoft Azure.

Who Is This Program Best For?

Yeshiva University’s MS in Artificial Intelligence is a strong option for students with a quantitative background who want an in-person AI degree in New York City with machine learning and deep learning in the required core.

It may be especially appealing to students interested in:

  • machine learning and predictive modeling
  • neural networks and deep learning
  • natural language processing, computer vision, or deep reinforcement learning as electives
  • AI agents, coding with AI, and AI safety and security
  • evening classes and part-time study in Manhattan
  • a STEM-designated degree with a capstone that can be a project, paper, or thesis

The degree is on campus only, and the admission prerequisites include programming, probability and statistics, multivariable calculus, and linear algebra. The published tuition rate is high, and the lower advertised price depends on the STEM Fellows scholarship. Students who need an online program, who lack the math and programming background, or who want public university pricing without relying on a scholarship may want to compare other New York schools.

Students can also compare Yeshiva University with other master’s programs in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and related fields offered in New York.
