Curriculum

Pace lists three related master’s degrees in the Seidenberg School: the MS in Artificial Intelligence, the MS in Applied Artificial Intelligence, and the MS in Data Science. This profile covers the MS in Artificial Intelligence, which is the computer science based AI degree.

Students complete 30 graduate credits consisting of:

  • 6 credits of core requirements
  • 9 credits of AI and analytics electives
  • 6 credits of psychology electives
  • 3 to 6 credits of Seidenberg electives
  • 3 to 6 credits of capstone or thesis

Bridge Courses

The catalog describes the program as designed for students with strong programming and math skills. Students from other fields may be assigned up to three bridge courses:

  • CS 608 – Algorithms and Computing Theory
  • CS 660 – Mathematical Foundations of Analytics
  • CS 661 – Python Programming

Bridge courses do not count toward the 30 credits, but their grades are included in the GPA.

Core Requirements

Students take one course from each pair:

  • CS 627 – Artificial Intelligence or CS 727 – Advanced Artificial Intelligence
  • CS 677 – Machine Learning or CS 755 – Advanced Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning

AI and Analytics Electives

Students select three courses from a list that includes:

  • CS 619 – Data Mining
  • CS 631V – Topic: Intelligent Agents
  • CS 632Q – Topic: Introduction to Natural Language Processing
  • CS 655 – Pattern Recognition
  • CS 671 – Computer Vision
  • CS 672 – Introduction to Deep Learning
  • CS 675 – Introduction to Data Science
  • CS 676 – Algorithms for Data Science
  • CS 696C – Topic: AI Ethics
  • CS 696G – Topic: Generative AI
  • CS 727 – Advanced Artificial Intelligence
  • CS 740 – Advanced Computer Vision
  • CS 755 – Advanced Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning

Deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and data mining are electives rather than core courses. The catalog notes that the elective lists will change.

Psychology Electives

Students select two courses from:

  • PSY 612 – Neuropsychology
  • PSY 617 – Human Learning
  • PSY 624 – Cognitive Psychology

These 6 credits are required in both the capstone and thesis routes, so one fifth of the degree is outside computing.

Seidenberg Electives

Students take 600-level or higher computer science or information systems courses: 6 credits with the capstone option or 3 credits with the thesis option. The catalog list includes CS 601C – Computational Statistics, CS 610 – Introduction to Parallel Computing, CS 673 – Scalable Databases, IS 684 – Web Mining, and IS 689 – Human-AI Interaction.

Capstone or Thesis

  • Capstone option: CS 668 – Analytics Capstone Project, taken in the last semester
  • Thesis option: CS 693 – Thesis I and CS 694 – Thesis II, taken over the last two semesters

The thesis requires a research project completed under the supervision of a professor.

Cost and Tuition

Pace is a private university and charges graduate tuition by the credit, with the same rate for New York residents and nonresidents.

For the 2026–27 academic year, Pace lists these tentative rates:

CategoryAmount
Seidenberg MS tuition, per credit$1,730
Total program tuition listed by Pace (30 credits)$51,900
General Institution Fee, per semester (12 or more credits)$507
General Institution Fee, per semester (8 to 11 credits)$359
Technology Fee, fall and spring (full time)$105

The total covers the 30 degree credits only. Students assigned bridge courses pay for those credits in addition. Part-time students pay a lower General Institution Fee and a $60 Technology Fee, and international students pay a $55 International Student Fee each semester.

Admitted students are automatically considered for merit scholarships of up to $6,400. Pace labels its 2026–27 rates as tentative and subject to change, so students should confirm current costs with the university.

Admission Requirements

Applicants need a bachelor’s degree. The catalog says the program is designed for students with strong programming and math skills, typically from a computing or related degree.

Students from other fields may be admitted and assigned up to three bridge courses in algorithms, mathematics for analytics, and Python.

Pace does not publish a minimum GPA for this program on its program page or catalog entry.

Application Materials

Applicants submit:

  • graduate application and $70 application fee
  • personal statement
  • resume covering at least the past five years of employment
  • official transcripts from every institution attended
  • proof of English proficiency when required

Two letters of recommendation are optional but strongly recommended, and the admission committee may require them case by case. Pace does not list the GRE among the requirements for this program.

For Seidenberg graduate programs, Pace accepts an IELTS score of 6.5, a Duolingo English Test score of 115, or a Pearson PTE Academic score of 52 as proof of English proficiency, along with TOEFL scores.

The program page lists fall and spring start dates. It also shows summer deadlines of May 1 and March 1, so applicants interested in a summer start should confirm with the Office of Graduate Admission.

Program Format

Pace lists the MS in Artificial Intelligence as an in-person program on the New York City campus. The catalog does not list an online version of this degree.

The program page gives a length of two years, with entry in fall or spring. The degree is STEM designated and eligible for F-1 visa sponsorship, which allows eligible international students to apply for the STEM OPT extension.

Students who need online study can look at Pace’s MS in Data Science, which is offered in New York City and online and requires both Data Mining and Machine Learning.

Who Is This Program Best For?

Pace University’s MS in Artificial Intelligence is a good fit for students with a computing or quantitative background who want an in-person AI degree in New York City with a choice of technical electives.

It may be especially appealing to students interested in:

  • machine learning and pattern recognition
  • deep learning and generative AI
  • computer vision
  • natural language processing
  • the links between AI, human learning, and cognitive psychology
  • a thesis option alongside a capstone project

Only two courses are fixed, so deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing depend on elective choices and course availability. Six of the 30 credits are psychology courses, the degree is campus only, and tuition is charged at a private university rate. Students who want an online program, a curriculum made up entirely of computing courses, or public university pricing may want to compare other New York schools.

Students can also compare Pace University with other master’s programs in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and related fields offered in New York.
