Curriculum
Kennesaw State launched this degree in fall 2024, expanding the artificial intelligence concentration in its MS in Computer Science into a standalone program. It draws on computer science, data science, cybersecurity, information technology, and software engineering.
Students complete 30 graduate credits consisting of:
- 12 credits of required courses
- 18 credits in a thesis track or a capstone track, including AI electives
Required Courses
- CS 7267 – Machine Learning
- CS 7375 – Artificial Intelligence
- CS 7357 – Neural Networks and Deep Learning
- AI 7000 – Ethics in Artificial Intelligence
Unlike the university’s MS in Computer Science, the program does not require a theory of computation or advanced algorithms core.
AI Electives
Students choose electives from:
- CS 7367 – Machine Vision
- CS 7347 – Natural Language Processing
- CS 7075 – Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
- CS 7050 – Data Warehousing and Mining
- CS 7265 – Big Data Analytics
- CS 7545 – AI for Security and Privacy
With coordinator approval, up to 6 elective credits can come from other graduate courses that build AI expertise or knowledge of a field where AI is applied.
Thesis or Capstone
Students finish the program through one of two tracks:
- Thesis track: 9 credits of thesis and research (CS 7999 and CS 7998) plus 9 credits of AI electives
- Capstone track: AI 7993 – AI Capstone (3 credits) plus 15 credits of AI electives
In the capstone, students design and carry out an AI project that addresses a real-world problem. The thesis track is better suited to students interested in research or doctoral study.
Cost and Tuition
Kennesaw State charges graduate tuition by the credit hour, with separate rates for campus and online courses.
For the 2026–27 academic year, the Bursar lists:
| Category | Tuition per Credit Hour |
|---|---|
| Georgia resident (campus) | $306 |
| Nonresident (campus) | $1,175 |
| Online graduate courses | $405 |
The online rate is the same for residents and nonresidents. Mandatory student fees are listed at $594 per semester, and fully online students may qualify for reduced fees.
At 30 credits, tuition comes to about $9,180 for a Georgia resident studying on campus and about $12,150 at the online rate, before fees. Rates can change each year, so students should confirm current costs with the Bursar.

- CS 5000 – Foundations of Programming
- CS 5040 – Data Structures and Algorithms
Application Materials
Applicants submit:
- online graduate application and $60 application fee
- official transcripts from each college attended
- resume or vita
- proof of English proficiency when required
Kennesaw State does not list the GRE, a statement of purpose, or letters of recommendation among the requirements for this program.
